Rachael Book

Rachael Hanakowski is a former Canmore local with Cerebral Palsy. She’s hoping to connect with and inspire other teenagers living with disabilities through her book Trial, Error, and Success: A Memoir of Teenaged Disability and is looking for a little help getting it published.

I met Rachael over a decade ago when I was stage managing a Pine Cones children’s theatre production in Canmore – she was the show’s talented narrator!

Since that time Rachael has had some major surgeries, including one where both her legs were broken by doctors and rotated in her hip sockets.  She started writing a journal due to the loneliness she felt during that time and used it to inspire her memoir.  She hopes the book will let other teenagers with disabilities know that they’re not alone with their struggles, but she’s run into obstacles sharing it with the world.
