The Canmore Folk Festival takeover has become an annual tradition on my show! Folk Fest Artistic Director Sue Panning joined me once again this morning to blow out our regular playlist and play artists exclusive to this year’s Canmore Folk Music Festival for a full hour, as well as get us pumped up for the 40th anniversary of Alberta’s longest running Folk Festival August 5th – 7th.  Tickets and details here.

Sue and I spoke about a variety of subjects:

The new Canada Far & Wide: Grands Esprits show to go along with Festival Friday at the Civic Centre August 4th.

Coco Love Alcorn’s work with our local choir and a chance to sing along with her flash-mob style on the Saturday.

The new after-party on Saturday, August 5th at the Drake with Leeroy Stagger and Seth Anderson.

Why it’s a great event for families, foodies, and shoppers.

How Banffites can take advantage of an extended service on Roam Regional Transit during the Folk Fest weekend.

How the Folk Fest has grown in 40 years, how volunteers make it happen, and how signing up for one of the remaining volunteer spots will get you a ton of perks.

The Mountain FM Festival Pub at the Canmore Miners Union Hall and the support of great sponsors.

Here’s (mostly) the playlist from today’s takeover.  Enjoy!

There are no YouTube videos available for the last two songs we played, “Two More Days” by Las Cafeteras and “What You Do” by Yola Carter so here are a couple of other great songs by those artists!
