The Woodnotes are a local band I discovered when they randomly popped up on my Facebook news feed while I was enjoying a late night Pizza Pop snack at home.  With a few bites of pepperoni and bacon goodness still left I decided to take a listen to a track or two from their Aimless Autumn EP on Spotify and immediately had to double check that they were based in Canmore.  How had I never heard of these guys before?  And with such solid songwriting, killer vocals, and radio-friendly hooks, why did it look like they’d only played a couple of small shows at The Last Call?  “These guys are criminally unrecognized!  They deserve a higher profile in town!” I said to myself as I finished scraping the bits of crusty microwaved cheese off my plate.  Our Music Director Jeff Hubbard agreed they’d be a great fit for our station and added Beachy Song to regular rotation.

The Woodnotes are Logan Thibodeau and Trevor Cox, a couple of guys who became friends while working together at the Fairmont laundry building on Glacier Drive and discovered a shared love of playing music.  Their EP was recorded in Trevor’s home studio with a third member, Steve Miller, who has since left the Bow Valley.  When the duo popped into the Mountain FM studios this week Logan told me they’re “due for some criticism” in response to all the positive feedback they’ve been getting about their music.  They also said they’re working on recording a new album and performed a great new song called Money on the Table live on-air!  Listen to the interview and song below:
