Lake Louise World Cup

The Lake Louise Ski Resort is now open for the season! Five lifts and 47 runs are ready to go for opening day. Not a ton of beginner terrain at this point as conditions are pretty good for this time of year on the upper mountain but still a little thin lower down, which has forced the cancellation of the Men’s weekend for the Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup for the first time in 29 years.

Canadian alpine racer turned broadcaster Kelly VanderBeek tells me the planned Kids Ski Free and Kids Learn to Ski Free programs are still a go for the November 26th and 27th weekend in spite of the cancellation as well as the following weekend for the Ladies’ races which at this point are still on the schedule.  She also talks about this year’s Canadian Alpine Ski Team and how lucky we are to be able to watch a world class event like this for free in our own backyard.
