The team behind the Canmore Folk Music Festival have come to the difficult conclusion that large-scale gatherings like music festivals this summer are not in line with preserving a healthy community and keeping their audience and our town safe.  So, for the first time since 1978, Alberta’s longest running folk music festival has been cancelled for the 2020 August long weekend.

I spoke with Artistic Director Sue Panning about their heartbreaking decision, their planned return in 2021, and how you can support both the festival and other local businesses during this challenging time.
