Quench your thirst with a Southern staple…homemade “sweet tea” (ice tea). This recipe is super simple with a bold flavour and will leave you coming back for another glass.

Ingredients:
– Water
– Tea Bags (regular black tea is the best, however you can substitute with other flavours like Green Tea etc…)
– Sugar

Directions:

1. In a medium sauce pan, bring to a boil 4 cups of water (adjust depending on the size of your pitcher)
2. When water comes to a boil add (2) tea bags (you can adjust depending on how strong you like your sweet tea) stir into the water
3. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer – allow your tea to steep, the longer the better and more flavour, you want it strong.
4. Add ½ of the tea mixture into a pitcher
5. Add in sugar to taste –  after all, it is called sweet tea 🙂  (you can use a sweetener alternative)
6. Fill the rest of the pitcher with water
7. Pour over ice
8. Garnish with lemon slices or mint (optional)
9. You can store pitcher in fridge (max 2 weeks)
10. SOUTHERN TIP: if you are storing in the fridge and not drinking all in one day, add a pinch of baking soda and mix well before placing pitcher in the fridge. This will ensure the sweet tea doesn’t go cloudy and preserve the sweet tea longer.
