ROB MURRAY: I’m speaking with Ross Buckberrough from our local Movember fundraiser, Mo Valley. How are we doing Movember fundraising locally?

ROSS BUCKBERROUGH: Because of COVID, some indoor events, the biggest one usually being at High Rollers, will not be happening. However, High Rollers is having a feature menu through November with some drinks, a dollar of each going towards Mo Valley for the duration of the month. There’s a specialty cast night on Tuesday, November 24th  at Banff Ave Brewing Company. It’s going to be tapped starting at 4 PM, and proceeds will be donated to Mo Valley. We’re also offering a silent auction through the Mo Valley page.

RM: What is the Mo Valley web link for people to find all the details?

RB: It’s on the Mo Valley Facebook page. We’ve shot videos of six really strong men in this community. I was one of them. I’m a cancer survivor. Having cancer is one thing, but the depression and the anxiety…you feel really alone. This gives us an opportunity to really tell men in this valley and all over the world that it’s okay to talk. It’s okay to communicate and share your feelings. Everybody has your back.

RM: Where does the money go for Mo Valley fundraising?

RB: It goes toward different organizations that set up men’s health groups throughout the world. It started with Movember in 2003 with 30 Mo Brothers and Mo Sisters, and it’s gone on to almost six and a half million people that are signed up for this. It’s a real strong movement and one that I’m really proud to be part of.

RM: How’s your ‘mo’ looking right now?

RB: It’s looking really terrible, Rob! As proud of the cause I am, I’m certainly not proud of my look. That’s why I’m on the radio today, I suppose.
