On Tuesday, in front of a packed gallery, Canmore council heard a presentation from the Alberta Government regarding the surprise decision on the alignment of the Smith Creek Wildlife Corridor that came down late last week.

The Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) and their supporters had a large contingent in attendance. They’ve been working with Three Sisters Mountain Village (TSMV)  and the Province on this file for a number of years and were equally surprised by last week’s announcement.  I spoke with Dr. Hilary Young from Y2Y about the corridor decision.  She also provided some clarity on a subject that was brought up at Tuesday’s meeting – discussions between Y2Y and TSMV about an alternate corridor alignment that were discarded due to what was stated as a lack of internal consensus.

David Taylor from TSMV also joined me on the program the following day.  You can listen to that interview here.
