Canmore-based jazz vocalist Tracey Wilkins is resurrecting the 1999 project Bird of Paradise to bring jazz interpretations of the music of Bob Marley to the artsPlace stage for two shows Saturday and Sunday.

Tracey told me the idea came from her dentist over two decades ago and turned into a project that spawned a CD and many performances including a well-received opening slot at the Jamaica Jazz Festival.  She says turning Bob Marley’s songs into jazz really highlights his gifts as a lyricist.

Tickets are available for Saturday’s and Sunday’s shows.
