With the forecast calling for sunshine and warm weather over the Labour Day long weekend it’s expected that trails and the backcountry will once again be busy.

Jay Honeyman from Alberta Environment and Parks joined me on air this morning to remind everyone that an extended berry season means the bear closure around Grassi Lakes and surrounding Quarry Lake and the Peaks of Grassi is still in effect and will likely remain so over the long weekend.  We also talked about why it’s important to give elk space during the annual rut, the importance of picking fruit off trees on your property at this time of year (or removing those trees entirely), and general tips for trail users.
