Jodi Hilty

Jodi Hilty is the President and Chief Scientist with the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative.  She joined me on the show to talk about local wildlife corridors and the future development of Smith Creek in the Three Sisters area.

Our discussion was in response to a press release issued by Y2Y earlier this week, followed by an article in the Rocky Mountain Outlook and an opinion piece Tanya and I presented on Thursday’s Insider that was critical of well-respected local environmentalist Karsten Heuer’s decision to walk away from a community group advising the developers on putting together an Area Structure Plan to set a framework for how to build out the last of the Three Sisters lands slated for development.  After a clarification on Karsten’s role with Y2Y (I erroneously referred to him as the organization’s Executive Director when in fact he’s operating as a Senior Advisor to the organization), Jodi and I had a great conversation about the importance of getting the wildlife corridor in the Three Sisters right, finding a balance between development and wildlife movement, and the expertise Y2Y is able to provide to this discussion.
