Canmore Eagles goaltender Ryan Bontorin has been named the Mountain FM Player of the Month for February and the final two regular season games played in March. From being a pre-season roster cut by the Olds Grizzlys to becoming the decided starter for the Eagles, Bontorin deserves to be recognized for his solid season and ability to handle a huge workload!

Bontorin went 6-2-3 in those February and March games with a Goals Against Average of 3.42 and a Save % of .908.  He’s started 13 of the team’s last 14 games including multiple back-to-back starts.  The Eagles’ final month turnaround after a disappointing January was a team effort but Ryan Bontorin was definitely a key part of it.  His solid work ethic also shines through with his willingness to help younger hockey players in the community – he was given the Canmore Minor Hockey Award at this past weekend’s Awards Banquet.

Ryan Bontorin spoke with me about staying focused on the game, the team’s February rebound, and the upcoming playoffs.

Congratulations Ryan and best of luck in the playoffs!

The Canmore Eagles kick off their best-of-five playoff series against the Drumheller Dragons on home ice Thursday and Friday night!  Puck drops 7 PM both evenings.
