Don't feed the bears!!

You may have seen the video that surfaced, a vehicle pulled over on the highway to feed a bear. The people have been fined $1000. The public seems to think that penalty should be harsher. I Spoke with Jim Mamalis, a Parks Canada Warden Supervisor and he explained why the penalty is what it is, and how they found the people.

Jim also mentions a recent increase in these sorts of happenings. Personally I think it’s due to soc ail media. People want to get neat photos for Facebook and Instagram. But please don’t feed the bears. A bear’s life is worth FAR more than the neat picture you might get of the bear.
