Local filmmaker Mikael from Msquared2 Productions is excited to premiering his first feature-length documentary Over the Rainbow at the Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival in Calgary this weekend. The film shares stories from Camp fYrefly, Canada’s only national leadership retreat for LGBTQ youth.

I spoke with Mikael as well as Carmen, the mother of a Camp fYrefly transgendered teen and one of the stars of the film.

Over the Rainbow will be screened this Sunday at 3pm at Calgary’s Hillhurst United Church in Kensington, featuring live music and a post-film panel discussion.  To find out more about Camp fYrefly, click here.
